What you can expect to learn:  

The SDI Open Water Scuba Diver Course will cover all of the necessary skills and knowledge for open water scuba diving, including:      

• The aquatic environment: vision, light, sound, heat loss, tides, currents, waves, surge, etc.     
• Physics and physiology: buoyancy, pressure, air spaces, breathing compressed air, mixed gases, etc.     
• Dive equipment selection, assembly, use and maintenance     
• Dive planning     
• Basic scuba skills including mask and regulator skills, swimming underwater, buoyancy control, basic rescue techniques, and emergency procedures     
• And much more!

The PADI Open Water Diver course has three main phases, all designed to fit your schedule:  

1. Knowledge Development (independent study or online) which introduces you to basic   principles of scuba diving 

2. Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills 

3. Open Water Dives to test and hone your skills in open water  

Prerequisites: 

*Must be at least 10 years old

You have two options to complete the independent learning portion of this class: 

Option 1 - PADI - Online eLearning: Completing the Knowledge Development portion of the course online gives  you the freedom to, learn at your own pace, create your own schedule  and complete the online training from anywhere.  

Fees:  $230  paid directly to PADI for access to the online materials and videos.  Enroll online by clicking the e-learning button below.  

$283  paid to Crystal Blue Diving for: review and final exam, PADI eLearning  student kit (includes divers log book, student folder and dive computer  simulator), Confined Water Pool Training, use of all scuba equipment and  referral paperwork, if needed.

** If you are a referral student coming from another store the fee is $199 for the open water dives and certification.   Lake entrance fees $20 per day per diver. 

Option 2 - Traditional independent study with student manual, video and classroom:
